Todd Palin, Sarah Palin's husband, in sex scandal

Todd Palin, Sarah Palin's husband, in sex affair scandal with massage therapist Shailey Tripp: Enquirer

The National Enquirer is reporting that Sarah Palin's husband, Todd, is embroiled in a sex scandal involving an extramarital affair with a massage therapist who has been "busted for prostitution."

The Enquirer claims it has unearthed official documents showing 36-year-old Shailey Tripp was arrested for maintaining a house of prostitution in March and that cops have confiscated physical evidence that could tie Todd to the alleged affair.

The tabloid did not disclose when the alleged rendezvous took place or what evidence was seized by police.

The Palins, who have previously been dogged by cheating allegations in 2008 and 2009 and have vehemently denied each and every accusation, though they have not commented on the Enquirer story.

Shailey Tripp, is shown on the left, according to the tabloid. (National Enquirer)

In the same Jan. 31 issue in which the National Enquirer reports the Palin scoop, it also reports that Jennifer Aniston has a drinking problem and President Obama is stick-thin because he has stomach parasites.

Still, the tabloid broke the story of the biggest political scandal since Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, when it reported ex-VP and presidential candidate John Edwards' affair with a campaign videographer.

The Palin story, writes the tabloid, began after several media outlets received an anonymous e-mail from thepalinmorals@hotmail.com claiming Tripp had an affair with Todd, which eventually led to Tripp's arrest in March 2010.

"According to the tenants in the building of her offices, they saw Todd come and go often and heard noises that sounded like someone was having sex," the e-mail read.

A woman by the name Shailey Tripp is listed as a massage therapist in Wasilla, Alaska. Calls to the listed phone number were not returned.

The Enquirer claims its investigation revealed that Tripp, 36, was arrested on March 4 in Anchorage and charged with having a house of prostitution.

Tripp pleaded no contest on June 13, 2010, according to the tabloid, and has a sentencing date set for June 15, 2011.

Star Sarah Shahi Has a Crush Danny DeVito

'Fairly Legal' Star Sarah Shahi Has a Crush on Danny DeVito

Sarah Shahi is a big fan of Danny DeVito and isn't afraid to admit it.

"I had a crush on Danny DeVito ever since I saw him in 'Taxi,' which I know is the weirdest thing in the world to say," Shahi tells PopEater.

The actress also chats with us about her new show 'Fairly Legal.'

On 'Legal,' which the star describes as "'Law & Order' meets 'Sex and the City,'" Sarah plays Kate Reed a legal mediator who works for her step-mother and is still tangled with her soon-to-be ex-husband.

"There's really great character dynamic on the show," she explains.

But Shahi wants to make it clear it's not the same old procedural. "It's like the anti-law law show."

Besides loving the role she plays, Shahi reveals another benefit of starring on the series -- the fashion.

"I did love the clothes. We were very designer heavy. She's the anti-lawyer, I didn't want her to look corporate and business like. I wanted her to wear more outfits and look thrown together," she explains of the wardrobe. "It was a lot of Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Thakoon, Dries Van Noten, Helmut Lang ... [just] young, great, hip designers."

Aubrey Plaza does Sarah Silverman

With Scott Pilgrim’s incessant fighting and self-loathing, the only way he can function is with a little help from his friends. Friends such as gay roommate Wallace Wells, played by Kieran Culkin (Igby Goes Down), and the oh-so-angry Julie Powers, played by Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation). Okay, Julie might not technically be Scott’s friend but, according to Plaza, she might secretly love him. That’s just one of the details that was revealed when we sat down with these two tremendously talented actors to discuss their roles in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World which hits theaters August 13.

This was one of those conversations where not a whole lot got done, but the joking and chemistry was totally worth the ride. Hit the jump to read about some rare moments of on set improv, Culkin’s long hours in bed with men, Plaza’s cursing habits and much more.

As Plaza and Culkin sat down, they informed the table of journalists that co-star Anna Kendrick, who plays Scott’s sister Stacey in the film, had just left and wouldn’t be joining us. “So this’ll be a lot less useful,” Culkin joked. They then messed around about her Oscar nomination and how that changed her.

Neither Plaza nor Culkin had read or heard of the comics before they got the film but Plaza in particular became a fan after. She didn’t expect to like it but thought it was “Awesome” and “really funny.” “I didn’t know comic books could be that funny,” she said. Culkin then asked her if she thought it was “funny” and she said, that “Yes, it was ‘funny,’ both playing on her overuse of the word “funny.”

The next question was if the fact that the Scott Pilgrim series had such a huge built in fan base affected them at all and both of them said it added a bunch of pressure. “In the back of my head I wanted to make sure I’m living up to the Julie Powers in the comic books,” Plaza said. “ I don’t want to disappoint anyone.”

Culkin said that he felt that pressure too because Wallace is so beloved, but once he got the character he just let it fly. “I tried not to put too much thought into him,” he said. Once he figured out what he was going to do he told himself “Just be that.”

A reporter commented to Plaza that she in particular gave her character, which isn’t particularly well formed in either the movie or the comics, a whole new dimension. She said much of that was because of the list of 10 secrets creator Bryan Lee O’Malley and director Edgar Wright gave her. And while Mark Webber and Alison Pill* told us all their secrets were in the books, Plaza said her biggest wasn’t. “Maybe Julie Powers is so angry at Scott, or hates Scott so much, because she likes him, or liked him, and he never liked her but he had little flings and crushes on all of her friends but never really paid attention to her so that really bugs her.”

My first question was if either was jealous that, due to the Greek chorus nature of their characters, they didn’t get to kick any ass. Both were quick to answer “No.” “I was telling someone, ‘Everyone is either learning an instrument or doing fight training and I don’t have to do that,’” Culkin said. “And they’re like ‘Oh I’m sorry,’ and I said ‘What are you kidding? It’s great! I don’t have to prep for weeks, I can just go in there and do my job and get out.’ I like that.” Plaza added that she was going to join her co-stars for training…but overslept. “And I realized, well, I can do that because I don’t have to be there so that was great,” she said.

Julie Powers biggest scene is the one in which she rips on Scott Pilgrim with a barrage of curses. A reporter asked “How DID she do that with her mouth?” which is a reference to a line Scott has in the movie. “Never fucking mind how she did it,” Plaza quipped. She added that on set she delivered every curse out loud but, much to my surprise, it was mostly scripted. Plaza is a stand up comedian and I figured it was all made up. Nope. Though she did add the final jab where she says she has a coffee for “’Fuck’ Pilgrim.”

Plaza continued that most of the movie was actually very precises and without improv, but Culkin was quick to point out two moments where that wasn’t the case. The first is when Lucas Lee (Chris Evans) looks at his phone and says “That’s actually hilarious.” That was just added in by Evans and Wright loved it. The second was the moment when Wallace gets home from a night of drinking, throws his keys and hits Scott in the head. It happened on an early take and Wright liked it so much, they spent a lot of time trying to duplicate it. Eventually, they had to cut between the throw in a long take and a medium of Scott getting hit.

The other actors had kept mentioning how long some of the shooting days were so I asked Culkin about how long he was in bed with multiple men and he said “not long enough.” He then began to say that it was about half a day before Plaza interrupted him. “Except for that one night where you guys actually slept in the bed,” she said. “That was a secret,” he replied and they went back and forth while we all laughed.

Someone asked if they liked the video game references and how they came across in the script script. Culkin, who stressed on multiple occasions his passion for gaming, said that even for him “it was hard to grasp in the script.” He said that the script was really long and kind of hard to read having not read the comics (it took him 5-6 hours before he finished it an understood it.) Having said that, though, once he read the comics and finally saw the movie, the gaming references for him were awesome. Later, Plaza echoed those sentiments. Even though she hadn’t played a video game in a long time, the movie was very nostalgic. “Hearing those sounds and people exploding into coins and remembering that feeling of jumping on coins and having them be your coins, I remember how that felt,” she said.

Culkin didn’t actually think the studio audience/Seinfeld gag was real until, on the day, Wright asked him to pause between lines to hold for applause. Things like that were the reason both were immediately sold on this movie. They both really just wanted to work with Wright. “I would have done it probably without even knowing what it was because it was him,” Plaza said.

She has already shot six episodes of the third season of Parks and Recreation and will be getting back to it once Amy Poehler has her baby. In addition, she has a small role in a movie tentatively called Someday This Pain Will Be Useful (“That’s never gonna be the title,” Culkin joked). It stars Ellen Burstyn and Marcia Gay Harden and is a serious drama based on a book. Plaza has a small roll as comic relief. Finally, though she hasn’t done it in a few months because of work taking up too much time, Plaza is hoping to get back to doing stand-up comedy on a regular basis soon.

Finally, when asked about their favorite games of all time, Kieran Culkin almost jumped out of his seat. “Do you want them in order?” he said. I joked, how about a reverse countdown, he said okay, then had to think about it. At this point, Plaza started rattling off names and Culkin shushed her not to spoil it. Number five is Contra, four is Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, three is Castlevania, two is Virtual Pro 2, a Japanese wrestling game for which he bought a converter and manually translated everything into English and number one is The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time.

Suffice to say, Scott Pilgrim is in pretty good hands with friends like those. Don’t forget to check out our other interviews with the members of Sex Bob-Omb, two of the Evil-Exes and the man himself, director Edgar Wright.

Golden Globes 2011: Katey Sagal and Sarah Palin?

Katey Sagal was taken aback when a reporter in the press room told her she had “kind of a Sarah Palin thing going on.”

“Really?” she said. “Sarah Palin?”

“Yes,” said the reporter. “Do you see yourself playing Sarah Palin anytime in the future?”

Sagal shied away from the question. Chances are we won’t be seeing that anytime soon.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar set to star in CBS pilot, 'The Ringer'

Just as god rested after creating the world, Sarah Michelle Gellar has been taking it relatively easy on the TV-front since the 2003 end of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

But that may soon change.

Vulture reports that CBS has given a pilot order for "The Ringer," a thriller with the 33-year-old actress set to star.

The series follows a young woman on the run from the mob, who tries to lay low by pretending to be her wealthy twin sister -- only to realize that she too has a price on her head. A little convoluted? Yes. But does it really matter when you're talking about a series that would star two Sarah Michelle Gellars? Not in the least.

Gellar serves as co-executive producer on the project, which was created by "Supernatural" scribes Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder.

Though she's mostly focused on film work -- and motherhood -- since departing the tube almost eight years ago, Gellar did star in an unsuccessful pilot for HBO in 2008, "The Wonderful Maladys."

Sarah Palin to Appear on Hannity Monday

Sarah Palin will appear on Sean Hannity's program on Fox News Monday, the New York Times reported Thursday night.

This interview will be Palin's first extended interview since the shooting rampage in Tucson that killed six people and wounded 12, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords was holding an event outside a grocery store to meet with her constituents.

Palin has been taking heat from both sides of the political spectrum since the shooting. In the days following the shooting before details of alleged gunman Jared Loughner's plans emerged, Palin was blamed by some on the left for using incendiary speech, including violent words and imagery.

When it became clearer that the alleged gunman, Jared Loughner, did not seem to be a follower of Palin's, critics on the right cried foul at all those who blamed the former Alaska governor for the rampage.

On Wednesday, Palin released a video in which she said Saturday's shooting in Arizona had nothing to do with political rhetoric, and media figures who invoked a map featuring gun sights on congressional districts are guilty of "blood libel."

Liberal and conservatives have criticized Palin for the video, which equates criticism of Palin's rhetoric with the historical persecution of Jews by accusing them of taking the blood of Christian children.

Blood Libel: Sarah Palin Accuses Media

Sarah Palin Accuses Media Of 'Blood Libel' But Apparently Doesn't Understand The Terrible, Anti-Semitic History Behind That Term

In typical fashion Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page today to finally address the Arizona shootings this weekend, to which she has been endlessly linked by various elements of the media and political spectrum.

In equally typical fashion, Palin offered little introspection into her role in the political dialogue of the past year and laid the blame directly at the feet of the media, whom she accused of "blood libel." A terrible term she apparently is not clear on the meaning of. But more on that in a second.

Two interesting things about the timing and nature of this post. It is clear that Palin spent the last few days testing the waters and leaving the heavy lifting of the defending her to the folks at Fox News, most notably Glenn Beck. Part way through her Facebook post she says "Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle."

Emphasis mine, because this is a reference to an old DNC map that Roger Ailes said in an interview the other day his team had dug up and which has been appearing on Fox News with great frequency ever since.

Palin may have also taken heart from a CBS poll released yesterday that found 6 out of 10 Americans don't see a link between political rhetoric and the shootings.

What is also clear from this post is that Palin, assuming she does want to run for President, has no interest in appealing to voters beyond her base. The terrible events of the weekend offered the former Governor a chance to step forward, display some leadership qualities, and speak to the country as a whole about rhetoric, or politics, or her vision, or her idea of America, or whatever. Basically anything she deemed fit to showcase her ability to transcend a national tragedy...an ability the nation generally requires its presidents to possess. Nay, demands.

Instead Palin has retreated, again, behind the safe walls of her Facebook page and only emerged to appeal to the fraction of voters who vehemently agree with her that she is a victim of an overzealous media (which she frequently is, but people running for President hopefully possess the ability to rise above the chatter). Short version: This is not the reaction one hopes for from a presidential candidate.

Back to "blood libel." Says Palin in her post:

But, especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.

Again, emphasis mine. Blood libel is a strong term with historically violent connotations and one wonders if Sarah Palin is familiar with its actual definition and history. From Wikipedia:

Blood libel refers to a false accusation or claim that religious minorities, almost always Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays. Historically, these claims have–alongside those of well poisoning and host desecration–been a major theme in European persecution of Jews.

Ben Smith points out that Glenn Reynolds used the term in a WSJ op-ed earlier this week so presumably she picked it up from there. Nevertheless, one WSJ column does not cancel out centuries of meaning for a term that has terrible, terrible meaning and repercussions -- Jews have been persecuted for centuries using this false claim. The especial irony here being that Palin deploys this term while attempting to criticize the media for inciting violence and calling for responsible rhetoric.

And then there is the extra terrible irony that Rep. Giffords is Jewish.

Perhaps we can look forward to a Facebook note and Vimeo video explaining her choice of phrase.

Sarah Palin Accuses Media of "Blood Libel" after Tucson Shooting

Saturday's shooting in Arizona had nothing to do with political rhetoric, and media figures who invoked a map featuring gun sights on congressional districts are guilty of "blood libel," Sarah Palin said in a video statement Wednesday.

Special Section: Tragedy in Tucson

The former vice presidential candidate has remained mostly silent since the attack that killed six people and critically wounded Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords at a meet-and-greet event in a Tucson supermarket.

But Palin stressed Wednesday that the violence was the work of "a single evil man" and that crimes "begin and end" with the people that commit them. Palin dismissed the recent criticism focusing on whether incendiary political rhetoric - including her organization's swing district map featuring crosshair - might have contributed to a climate that promotes violence against political figures.

"I listened at first puzzled, then with concerned, and now with sadness to the irresponsible statements from people attempting to apportion blame for this terrible event," Palin said."If you don't like a person's vision for the country, you're free to debate that vision. If you don't like their ideas, you're free to propose better ideas. But especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence that they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible."

As the New York Times' Michael Shear explained Wednesday, "By using the term 'blood libel' to describe the criticism about political rhetoric after the shootings, Ms. Palin was inventing a new definition for an emotionally laden phrase. Blood libel is typically used to describe the false accusation that Jews murder Christian children to use their blood in religious rituals, in particular the baking of matzos for passover. The term has been used for centuries as the pretext for anti-Semitism and violent pogroms against Jews."

Palin is part of a chorus of voices on the political right casting itself as the victim of smears and an attempt to infringe free speech following the Tucson attack.

Right wing blogger and law professor Glenn "Instapundit" Reynolds argued in a Wall Street Journal op-ed Wednesday that "there's a climate of hate out there, all right, but it doesn't derive from the innocuous use of political cliches. And former Gov. Palin and the tea party movement are more the targets than the source."

Palin herself referred in the video to a House bill, proposed after the shooting by Democratic Rep. Robert Brady of Pennsylvania, that would "criminalize speech."

Palin said that attacks on free speech and the democratic political system remind us how much we cherish and need to protect them.

"It is in the hour when our values are challenged that we must remain resolved to protect those values. Recall how the events of 9/11 challenged our values and we had to fight the tendency to trade our freedoms for perceived security," she said. "We will not be stopped from celebrating the greatness of our country and our foundational freedoms by those who mock its greatness by being intolerant opinion and seeking to muzzle dissent with shrill cries of imagined insults."

It's unclear whether the timing of Palin's message has any special significance politically, but it came the same President Obama travels to Tucson to meet with victims' families and local leaders - and ahead of a planned national address from the University of Arizona Wednesday evening.

Sarah Palin's Crosshairs Map on Facebook

Sarah Palin's Crosshairs Map Still on Facebook

Sarah Palin still has not removed the controversial target list map from her Facebook page -- the one that was posted back in March and features crosshairs all over a map ... and the name of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, among others. Palin has been getting flack for the map in the wake of the Giffords shooting over the weekend. A Palin staffer defended the graphic, saying, "We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights ... It was simply crosshairs like you'd see on maps."

So we ask ...

New Fears Over Sarah Palin's Stalker

A man who's been legally ordered to stay away from Sarah Palin is causing a new wave of concern in Alaska -- after federal agents learned he plans to visit Sarah's home state in the very near future.

TMZ has learned ... 19-year-old Shawn Christy has told family members he plans to travel to Wasilla in the hopes of removing the restraining order issued against him last year after Sarah and her close friend Kristan Cole proved he sent them threatening emails and letters.

Now, Cole is launching a preemptive strike -- through the courts -- in the hopes of blocking Shawn from "dissolving" the restraining order.

Cole just filed new documents, obtained by TMZ, explaining how Shawn has continued to harass her and her family in the past few months ... and keeping the restraining order in place is essential to their safety.

Law enforcement sources tell us Shawn -- who lives in Pennsylvania -- has not been spotted in Alaska yet ... but he's already filed a motion to remove the protective order.

A review of the final Sarah Palin Alaska

A review of the final 'Sarah Palin's Alaska': 'Our life is in your hands, Sarah!'

Sarah Palin’s Alaska wrapped up its first and final season with two hours of Palin-mania: Our Sarah and her family went gold-prospecting, kayaking, blueberry-picking, and moose-kissing. (You do it by putting a banana in your mouth and extending it to the moose’s mouth. No kidding.) Palin also offered her own critique of the infamous Kate Gosselin episode. Really two episodes shown back-to-back, Sarah Palin’s Alaska spent much of the first hour in Nome, “on a quest for gold,” Palin said, and in Valdez, “where the original Gold Rush began.”

She rode a four-wheeled ATV in Nome to a stretch of beach where gold might be found. Palin’s goal was to find enough for a present for her mother: “a piece of jewelry with [some] gold we found ourselves.” She and various members of her family, including husband Todd, daughter Piper, and her father Chuck, did the contemporary version of panning for gold. Later, her brother Chuck, Jr., and another diver plunged into the ocean to gather gold on the bottom of the sea. Sarah helped supply the air and hot water being pumped down to the divers, leading Chuck to exclaim, “Our life is in your hands, Sarah!”

Palin and her family found more than an ounce of gold — worth, the clan was told, “more than $1,150.” “We were blessed,” said Sarah. The gold was melted down and made into a ring for Sarah’s mom and a plaque for her dad, for their 50th anniversary — the golden anniversary, appropriately enough.

The second hour was a clip show, with scenes from the season interspersed with Palin’s straight-to-the-camera explanations and justifications. She defended her caribou-hunting episode (why bother? it’s not as though it was illegal) and said “some critics” thought the moment when we saw Palin watching two bears fighting was “faked or photo-shopped.” (Really? Not me.)

Sarah and her dad had a good retrospective laugh over the Kate Gosselin episode, chuckling over clips of Kate whining about being cold and wet on her abortive camping trip with the Palins. “It was a bit of a country mouse, city mouse kind of thing,” said Sarah. “Ya gotta give it the old college try, though.” Palin added, “I never heard the kids complain; they were innocent, sweet, curious spirits.” Her dad said, “She was out of her elemenrt, poor lady.”

So what should we take away from a season of Sarah Palin’s Alaska? That Palin has a lively family that seems, from what we saw, pretty well-rooted. (Yes, I know: It’s all in the editing. But the casual, unrehearsed remarks we heard, and a willingness to get one’s hands dirty, count for something in assessing people.) That Palin never misses an opportunity to apply some sort of populist spin to the most ordinary situations. (Seen jogging this night, she passed a woman, asked her name, and introduced herself without breaking stride. Then she added a bit further down the path, “Nobody’s better than anyone else around here.” Um, who said they were, Sarah?) Still, anyone watching the series for evidence of Palin’s fitness for, say, a future run for President would come away without much evidence pro or con.

But the woman sure can shoot a gun, fillet a fish, and finger a Blackberry — and a blueberry — with uniform dexterity.

Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck Influenced Gunman

No evidence that Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck influenced gunman Jared Loughner

(WIREUPDATE) — Despite the rhetoric found on Twitter and liberal websites there is absolutely no shred of evidence that Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck ever once influenced the gunman behind the mass shooting in Tuscon, Arizona. By all accounts Jared Loughner was an insane individual whose online ramblings do not reflect either the former Governor or the television host.

In the hours after the tragic shootings we have learned very little about the gunman. According to former friends he was considered ‘a loner’ who used recreational drugs and listened to music such as Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. He was able to legally obtain the gun that he would go on to use in the shooting of 19 individuals.

Liberal commentators such as Keith Olberman and DailyKos founder Markos Moulitsas were quick to give blame to Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck for Loughner’s actions despite hearing any evidence that would suggest Loughner was influenced by them.

Jared Loughner’s obsession with Arizona Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords wasn’t a recent occurrence. Long before Sarah Palin posted a Facebook image declaring Giffords as one of her political targets during the 2010 mid-term elections, Loughner told a high school friend that he spoke with the Congresswoman. He asked Giffords a question and determined she was “stupid and unintelligent.”

This meeting occurred a year before Sarah Palin was a household name, in 2007, and three years before the infamous ‘targets’ image was posted on Facebook.

Loughner left numerous disturbing messages on his Myspace page. On December 13, 2010 he wrote, “I don’t feel good: I’m ready to kill a police officer! I can say it.”

The very next day he followed up his threat with an equally disturbing omen of today’s news, “WOW! I’m glad i didn’t kill myself. I’ll see you on National T.v.! This is foreshadow …. why doesn’t anyone talk to me?..”

During those two days talk show host Glenn Beck was gearing up for his multiple broadcasts in Wilmington, Ohio to celebrate “America’s First Christmas.”

Topics over those two days included Glenn’s thoughts on the Narnia movie, the collapse of the Metrodome due to snowfall, The Bush Tax-cuts, CNN attempt to discredit Glenn over his comments on Islamic terrorism, Jim Wallis bashing rich Americans, meeting Mark Wahlberg at a restaurant, and George Soros’ influence on the progressive movement.

At no point during these broadcasts did Glenn suggest for his listeners to arm themselves and shoot police officers. Actually, Glenn has a long history of telling his listeners to give thanks to the men and women in uniform and not hate.

Loughner’s own disdain of the police might have stemmed from an incident when he was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, also in 2007. While the charges were ultimately withdrawn, it seemed to have severe effect on his college studies as he would soon drop out of school.

The exact motives of Loughner’s heinous actions are unclear at this time – what is clear Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck probably had nothing to do with it. Loughner formed his own opinions and acted on them. He is responsible for his own actions and deserves the highest punishment afforded by law.
