Ted Williams Bails on Rehab Golden Voice

'Golden Voice' Ted Williams Bails on Rehab

You’re never really an official celebrity until you’ve fled rehab against advice of your doctor. So Ted Williams, as they say on American Idol, welcome to Hollywood! Lindsay Lohan is nodding approvingly as word comes down that Williams, the formerly homeless man from Ohio with the golden radio voice, has left a rehab facility for drug and alcohol abuse. Williams had entered the facility after an appearance on the Dr. Phil Show.

Williams has been offered a full-time job and a home by the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his most recent gig was for voiceover work on a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese commercial, which is currently airing on television. The New York Daily News:

Ted Williams completed his work for us last week, and we think he did a great job,” a Kraft food spokesperson told the Christian Science Monitor an email Jan. 13. “We hope the best for him.”

Days earlier on Jan. 10, his daughter accused him of hitting her and said that he had gone on drinking binges.

“He said, ‘You, you fat [expletive],’ and when he said that, I just got angry,” Janey Williams told Dr. Phil on a later broadcast. “He’s consumed at least a bottle of Grey Goose a night, at least. That’s not including the Coronas he orders, that’s not including Budweisers he orders, that’s not including the other alcohol, the wines.”

After that incident, Williams admitted to [Dr. Phil] McGraw that he had relapsed and checked himself into the rehab center. Williams’ whereabouts since leaving rehab are unclear.

Williams’ initial media jump to light speed is over; now he must deal with the day-to-day issues of living clean and sober. Hope he makes it.

Rilo Kiley as his date to award show

Golden, Globes, 2011, Jake, Gyllenhaal, takes, ex, Jenny, Lewis, Rilo, Kiley, date to award show

Jake Gyllenhaal brought one of his famous exes to the Golden Globes on Sunday - but it wasn't Taylor Swift.

His date for the night was Jenny Lewis, singer of the band Rilo Kiley and a former actress.

The former couple, who dated in 2001, has apparently stayed friends through the years. In 2009, Gyllenhaal brought then-girlfriend Reese Witherspoon to see her perform at Coachella. (Lewis also had a small role in Witherspoon's 1998 film, "Pleasantville.")

Still, Lewis' appearance was a surprise to many who thought Gyllenhaal, 30, would spend the night solo or bring a family member to the star-studded awards show.

The two didn't pose for pictures on the red carpet, but Lewis, 35, was never far from his side and could even be seen sitting next to him during the live broadcast.

And when Gyllenhaal, nominated for "Love and Other Drugs," lost out to "Barney's Version" star Paul Giamatti in the Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) category, it probably helped to have a friend by his side.

According to Us Weekly, the actor's brief relationship with Swift ended via a phone call last month, leaving the 21-year-old singer crushed.

Golden Globe Fashion

Golden Globe Fashion: Pretty in Pink and Gorgeous in Green

NEW YORK (CBS) The stars at the 20121 Golden Globes may be lusting after the golden hardware, but it's the red carpet that has fans agog.

For the first time, we got to see notable newcomers mixing and mingling with award show veterans. Some were smart and used this as an opportunity to flex their fashion muscle in hopes of boosting their image, status and career.

SPECIAL SECTION: The Golden Globes
PICTURES: Golden Globe Red Carpet
PICTURES: Golden Globe Highlights

While the Globes aspire to be the Oscars, its mere a high-profile preliminary round. But that doesn't mean that they didn't glam it up. This was still a big night with two goals, to bring home the golden statue and NOT end up on any worst dressed lists.

Felix Mercado, celebrity style expert and president and owner of Say it With STYLE, saw a number of trends on the red carpet Sunday night, including the usual dominance of black gowns. Among those who chose safety in basic black were "Glee" star Jayma Mays in a sheer, cut-out dress; Eva Langoria in Zac Posen; Jennifer Lawrence in Louis Vuitton; Piper Perabo in Oscar De La Renta; Melissa Leo in a sequin stunner and Julieanne Hough in a simple style with a bejeweled neck - "a great compliment to a simple dress," Mercado says.

Here are some of the other trends Mercado spotted :

Pink Dresses. Pink - in every shade from peony to bubblegum - was as ubiquitous as black on the 2011 Golden Globes red carpet. Among those looking pretty in pink were Kelly Cuoco accenting her gown with Chopard Jewels; Kathrine Kidd in a pink so pale it was almost nude; Natalie Portman in a strapless Victor and Rolf; "Glee" star Naya Rivera who draws Kim Kardashian comparisons; Lea Michele in Oscar De La Renta; Megan Fox wearing Armani Prive; and "Glee" actress Dianna Agron in a nude J Mendel gown "that was a little on the bridal side." Mercado also says her hair would have been better up or pulled back.

Green Dresses. Not as plentiful as pink, green dresses made a stunning accent on the red capet. Among those in green were: "Black Swan" star Mila Kunis; "Mad Men" actress Elizabeth Moss in Donna Karan; Catherine Zeta-Jones in a strapless Monique Lhuillier stunner; and an "absolutely breathtaking" Angelina Jolie in stunning green Versace.

Statement Shoes. Instead of accessorizing, some of the footwear dominated, Mercado says. "Helena Bonham Carter wearing two different color shoes... OMG!!!" He also said Olivia Wilde's gold Christian Louboutin's were way off in style and color

Simple Hairdos Most stars kept their hair simple, primarily in updo's or pulled back a la Natalie Portman in "Black Swan."

Ricky Gervais rudest Golden Globes jokes

Ricky Gervais rudest Golden Globes jokes

This post started as “Ricky Gervais’ Funniest Golden Globes Jokes” but, really, when it comes to Gervais, his lines that rip the Hollywood elite tend to get more people buzzing than the ones that are merely funny. Here are the biggest zingers from the Golden Globes host:

– “Welcome to a night of partying and heavy drinking. Or as Charlie Sheen calls it: breakfast.”

– “I’d like to quash this ridiculous rumor going around that the only reason The Tourist was nominated so the HFPA could hang out with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. That is rubbish. That is not the only reason. They also accepted bribes.” (That line is what presumably prompted the HFPA president to shoot back, “Ricky, next time you want me to help you qualify your movies, go to another guy.”)

– “Nothing for Sex and the City 2. I was sure the award for best special effects would go to the team that airbrushed that poster.”

– Introducing Bruce Willis as “Ashton Kutcher’s dad.”

– “Also not nominated, I Love You Phillip Morris, with Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey, two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay — the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists then.” Gervais added: “My lawyers helped me the wording of that joke.”

Natalie Portman is Pregnant IN Golden Globes

Natalie Portman: Golden Globes Baby Bump With Fiance Benjamin Millepied

Natalie Portman showed off her growing baby bump in Viktor & Rolf Sunday night at the Golden Globes, where she is nominated for Best Actress for her performance in 'Black Swan.'

In December she announced she was pregnant and engaged to Benjamin Millepied, the movie's choreographer.

When Ryan Seacrest asked Natalie whether she'd come up with a baby name yet, she laughed.

"Names? I've got to wait," she said. "I've definitely been thinking about it but I haven't done the book or anything. Open to suggestions."\

Paul Giamatti wins Golden Globe for Canadian film

Paul Giamatti wins Golden Globe for Canadian film Barney's Version

Paul Giamatti won the Golden Globe Award on Sunday as Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his role in the Canadian film Barney's Version.

Giamatti - who was pitted against Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhaal and Kevin Spacey, "my superiors in every regard, as men and as actors" - stars as Barney Panofsky,, the difficult, alcoholic, and romantic womanizer in the film version of Mordecai Richler's best-seller.

"Jesus Christ, Halle Berry," said Giamatti in accepting the award from the glamorous actress. Giamatti - best known as a character actor with an underdog charm - thanked producer Robert Lantos, director Richard J. Lewis, and the Richler family.

"I got to smoke and drink in this movie and got paid for it," said Giamatti, who also praised Montreal, where the film was shot, as an "incredible beautiful city that I dream about," and acknowledged "the great nation of Canada."

Giamatti's victory was one of the few surprises at the 68th annual Globes ceremony.

The Social Network, the much-honoured drama about the founding of Facebook, was named Best Motion Picture Drama, an award that adds to the best picture momentum for the movie as Oscar season approaches. In addition David Fincher was named best director and Aaron Sorkin was also honoured for his screenplay.

As expected, Colin Firth was named Best Actor in a Drama for his role as the George VI, the monarch who was tormented with a stammer, in The King's Speech. He said the award was the kind of encouragement he needed in mid-career: "Right now this is all that stands between me and a Harley-Davidson," said Firth, who was favoured for the Globe and is also touted as a likely Oscar winner.

The Kids Are All Right, a comedy with Annette Bening and Julianne Moore as a lesbian couple, was named Best Comedy or Musical and Bening was named Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. She accepted the award from Robert Downey Jr., who - in the outlaw spirit of the evening - introduced the nominees by saying: "I don't know if an actress has done her best work until I've slept with her," and implying that he had. For her part, Bening thanked the winner of the 1962 Golden Globe as Most Promising Newcomer: her husband, Warren Beatty.

As expected, Natalie Portman - the odds-on favourite for an Academy Award as well - won the Globe as Best Actress in a Drama for her performance as a conflicted ballerina in the psychosexual drama The Black Swan.

Christian Bale, whose performance as the manic and drug-addicted brother in the film The Fighter has made him the darling of the awards season, was named Best Supporting Actor. Bale, sporting a long beard and untamed hair, paid tribute to Fighter star Mark Wahlberg, saying: "You can only give a loud performance like the one I gave when you have a quiet anchor."

His co-star, Melissa Leo, was named Best Supporting Actress for her ferocious performance as Wahlberg's overbearing mother and manager. She said she accepted the role despite misgivings that she was too young for it.

The Globes are seen variously as a bellwether for the more "important" Academy Awards, which take place Feb. 27.

However, the awards haven't accurately predicted the Oscars for a long time: In the past five years, only Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 has won both a Globe and Oscar for best movie. But they've become a sterling showcase for evening gowns and suntans, the red-carpet and the reliably irreverent Ricky Gervais are the evening's chief attractions.

The association's prestigious Cecil B. DeMille award was given to Robert De Niro, who brought the tone of lifetime achievement back down to earth when he noted that the honour was announced before the reviews of Little Fockers came in. He went on say the actor's job is to make movies and the association's job is to pose with pictures of the movie stars. Speaking of his career, he said: "These movies are all like my children except my children are more expensive and you can't remake them in 3-D to push up the grosses."

Chris Colfer Glee, Boardwalk Empire sweep Golden Globes

Glee, Boardwalk, Empire sweep Golden Globes' TV categories

Chris Colfer won Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series

It was a changing of the guard at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, with first-time nominees scooping up awards in the TV categories.

The Golden Globes, which took place Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, recognized new talent, as well as movie stars who’ve transitioned to the small screen.

HBO’s prohibition drama, Boardwalk Empire, won big in the TV drama categories, scoring the Best Drama award, while Steve Buscemi won the Drama Lead Actor trophy, beating past winners Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Michael C. Hall (Dexter).

Film actress-turned-TV-star Laura Linney scooped up the award for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy for her role as a cancer victim whose diagnosis liberates her emotionally in Showtime’s The Big C.

Glee swept the TV comedy categories, winning the Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy category and awarding acting trophies to stars Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer. A visibly moved Colfer dedicated his award to kids who are being bullied. "Mostly importantly [thanks] to all to all the amazing kids that watch our show and … are constantly told 'no' [by] people and environments and bullies at school, that they can't be who they are or can't have what they want because of who they are. Well, screw that, kids."

In a surprise win, Sons of Anarchy’s Katey Sagal won the Best TV Drama Lead Actress award, beating out favourites Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer).

In the miniseries categories, biopics reigned. Claire Danes won the Best Actress award for Temple Grandin, while Al Pacino won the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Jack Kevorkian in You Don't Know Jack. “It’s great for actors who portray real characters,” said Pacino. “It’s really a special thing for an actor when you portray a real person, because that relationship is so interesting and wonderful.”

Laura Linney Golden Globes Win

Laura Linney: Bittersweet Golden Globes Win; Annette Bening Finally!

Laura Linney just won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in “The Big C.” But it’s a bittersweet victory since Linney’s beloved playwright dad, Romulus Linney, died yesterday. Life is full of these ironies. Laura is so good in “The Big C,” she deserves to enjoy her success. Condolences.

Annette Bening, meanwhile, won Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for “The Kids Are All Right,” which is neither a comedy or a musical. Natalie Portman will win Best Actress in a Drama later tonight. Then the two will go head to head in the Oscar race.

So far who looks great: Jane Fonda, spectacular. Melissa Leo, who rocks.

Odd stuff: so many of the TV nominees, and all the “Glee” winners. HBO has raked in the awards tonight, for Steve Buscemi, “Boardwalk Empire,” and Al Pacino as Jack Kevorkian. If it weren’t for HBO there would be no dramatic TV. The networks should be ashamed of themselves. Strange juxtaposition: Claire Danes and Jennifer Love Hewitt in the same category.

Steve Buscemi Wins Golden Globe for Boardwalk Empire

Park Slope’s Steve Buscemi Wins Golden Globe for Boardwalk Empire

Congrats to Steve B for winning the best actor in a TV series Golden Globe Award tonight. Also in this hot category were all my faves: House, Don Draper, Dexter, the chemistry teacher in Breaking Bad. Whoa. What a category.

We in Park Slope are proud of Mr. B. Here’s a bit of his speech:

“I have to get my glasses on. Now I have to talk fast before the sad music comes on. I want to thank everyone at HBO. I am only as good as the people I work with. They’re saying please wrap up already? I want to thank the cast, the crew, the directors, Terence Winter. Martin Scorsese your genuis is only matched by your generosity…my family, my lovely wife, Jo. Lucian…to my whole family I wish you all the luck and joy in the world.”

Claire Danes Are Best TV Actresses

68th Golden Globes: Jane Lynch and Claire Danes Are Best TV Actresses

The awards giving continues at 68th Golden Globe Awards with more of "Glee" and HBO shows. After Chris Colfer's victory for "Glee" in the Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini -Series or TV Movie, his co-star Jane Lynch takes the Supporting Actress category for her performance as the "Glee" character that also won her an Emmy last year.

"I am nothing but falsely humble!" Lynch says as the audience laughed. She went on thanking the "Glee" writers for coming up with such an evil and witty character as Sue Sylvester. Last year Chloe Sevigny won the title for her role on "Big Love".

Claire Danes also goes home with a trophy that night for her titular role in HBO's TV movie "Temple Grandin". The actress says, "This is so cool", before getting emotional about her win. Last year, Drew Barrymore of "Grey Gardens" won the same category for HBO.

Al Pacino also adds the number of wins HBO is collecting by taking the Best Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie. He plays the titular character in TV movie "You Don't Know Jack" about an American doctor known for a number of assisted suicides. Pacino receives a standing ovation when receiving the trophy.

"Boardwalk Empire", which has won earlier through Steve Buscemi, walks away with Best TV Series Drama. The whole cast and creator Terrence Winter go to the stage to accept the prize. "Mad Men" won the title last year although it is nominated again this year.

Trent Reznor Wins Golden Globe

Trent Reznor Wins Golden Globe for 'Social Network' Score

Trent Reznor never expected to earn a Golden Globe nomination for scoring 'The Social Network,' yet the Nine Inch Nails frontman got more than he could have hoped for during the 68th Annual awards ceremony Sunday night (Jan. 16): he won.

Reznor, along with English musician Atticus Ross, took home the award for 'Best Original Score-Motion Picture' for the gloomy, tension-filled songs heard throughout the film, which details the ups and downs Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg experienced while creating the popular social networking site.Former Golden Globe winners Alexandre Deslpat for 'The King's Speech,' A. R. Rahman for '127 Hours' and Hans Zimmer for 'Inception' were nominated in the category. Previous nominee Danny Elfman for 'Alice in Wonderland' also earned a nod.

Reznor's win comes on the heels of landing another high-profile scoring gig. The 45-year-old Pennsylvania native is writing and recording the music for 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,' based on the best-selling novel by Stieg Larsson.

2011 Golden Globes’ TV Winners

2011 Golden Globes’ TV Winners

Only a few hours remain to get your Golden Globes wagers organized ahead of Sunday night’s telecast, which means it’s time for Movieline’s awards bureau to break out its crystal ball and/or payola Geiger counter for the big winners of this weekend’s festivities. First up: The television nominees. Let’s go to the experts!

Christopher Rosen
Fun fact*: More often than not, the Golden Globes do a better job of honoring good television than the Emmy Awards do. That means the television portion of the Globes should be quite interesting — and not just because the cast of Mad Men will be present, and presumably, partying. (Right, Kiernan Shipka?)

*This is not a fact fact, FYI.

I’m damaging my credibility as a critic, intellectual, and human being by suggesting a Lea Michele win in the Best Actress department, but I think the Golden Globes need one popularity contest triumph. If there’s one award show where academy members think things like, “The Big C? Eww, that’s about cancer” — it’s the Globes.

After its last absolutely stellar season, look for it to be a Mad Men night, winning not just Best Drama, but Best Actor for Jon Hamm and Best Actress for Elisabeth Moss. After all, it probably won’t be back till 2012, so best to give it its accolades while they can, right? And my sheer undying love for Sofia Vergara makes me hope she’ll be a surprise winner come Sunday night. ¡Viva Colombia!

“Really?” she said. “Sarah Palin?”

“Yes,” said the reporter. “Do you see yourself playing Sarah Palin anytime in the future?”

Sagal shied away from the question. Chances are we won’t be seeing that anytime soon.
