There’s no better time than the present to make sure your kids are caught up on some of the most classic Dr. Seuss books.
And chances are, Dr. Seuss might be celebrated in your community today. In Washington DC, First Lady Michelle Obama will read the Seuss classic Green Eggs and Ham at 9 a.m. EST at the Library of Congress along with other notable figures.
But the best place to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day? Springfield, Mass. The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Garden is located in Springfield, and the town is also where Theodor Seuss Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) was born. There are life-size bronze statues of the Cat in the Hat and Horton the elephant, and a 10-foot-tall version of Oh, The Places You’ll Go! Dr. Seuss’ birthday celebration will continue at the Springfield museum on Saturday.
