Sherri Shepherd Engaged To Lamar Sally
Add Sherri Shepherd’s name to the list of celebrity brides who’ll be walking down the aisle in 2011.
The host of the Game Show Network’s The Newlywed Game will soon be among the “wedded elite” after accepting a day after Christmas proposal from beau Lamar Sally, a Hollywood television writer, Shepherd’s rep told PEOPLE Tuesday.
Forget all of that bended knee jazz, Lamar’s proposal reads like something out of one of those cheesy romance novels you pick up while waiting in line at the supermarket.
“Upon arriving back to Lamar’s home in Los Angeles from a trip to San Diego, Sherri was surprised to find their accommodations had been decorated with lights by one of Sal’s best friends, her dog was wearing a Santa beard and hat, and, in the middle of a dish of Sherri’s favorite but forbidden M&M’s (she is diabetic), was a tiny little box….”
But first, Sally got permission from the other leading man in Shepherd’s life — her 5-year-old son Jeffrey.
The marriage will be the second for Sherri, who divorced ex Jeffrey Taffery amid a highly-publicized cheating scandal shortly before giving birth to the couple’s only son.
The couple began dating after being introduced by the fiance of Sherri’s comedienne pal Niecy Nash. An August wedding in Chicago is already in the works — but we’re sure she’ll tell us all about it when The View returns from Winter Break on Jan. 11.
