Bing Travel is a part of Bing, which was formerly Microsoft’s Live Search (also known as Windows Live Search or MSN Search). Listed as a “decision engine,” Bing was introduced on May 28th, 2009 by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. On July 29th, 2008, it was announced that Microsoft and Yahoo! had struck a deal that would include Bing powering Yahoo! Search.

The Bing Travel website looks much like other Bing related applications. The site features the familiar blue and orange Bing logo along with a stylish, faded grey top and white background. The site is generally well organized and does not contain nearly as much clutter as other travel websites sometimes like to cram into each page. Users can navigate through the six links positioned across the top of the page. When selected, the link turns orange, making it easy for the user to know where they are on Bing Travel at all times.

User do not have to register for Bing Travel to access resources or search functions. The site is always available. Users can sign in and may be automatically signed in if they are logged in to Facebook. Users can also sign in through their Windows Live ID if they prefer to do so. To sign in, the user can click the white “Sign In” link at the top, right hand corner of the homepage. The user is given the option of the two previously mentioned log in methods.

Bing Travel is much like other similar sites and does not require a subscription fee for access. Anyone can stop by and browse the site for free. An account is not required either, making Bing Travel a convenient option for anyone that wants an easy way to plan a trip or look for airfare rates.
