Anne Hathaway lands Catwoman role
Warner Bros announced today that Hathaway would play Selina Kyle, who has a double identity as Catwoman, in The Dark Knight Rises.
Christian Bale returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, while Tom Hardy has been cast as Batman's enemy, Bane.
Director Christopher Nolan said he was "thrilled" at the opportunity to work with Hathaway.
"[She] will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story."
It is understood the other actresses considered for the role of Catwoman included Keira Knightley, Naomi Watts and Blake Lively.
The Dark Knight Rises is due for release July next year.
