Indian Army celebrates Army Day today. The Indian Army celebrates January 15 every year as Army Day to commemorate a historic day – General (later Field Marshal) K M Cariappa became the First Commander-in-Chief of Indian Armed Forces after Independence, taking over the Command of Armed Forces from Gen Sir F R R Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief, in 1949.
Let us pay homage to all Martyrs who laid down their lives for the Motherland and who sacrificed their today for our safe future and salute the unknown Soldier who toils day and night for our safety.
India Post has also honoured two of its most respected Soldiers , who are loved, adored , admired and respected by the Nation and the Forces Fraternity. Field Marshals K M Cariappa and S H F J Manekshaw.
