Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady Competes At Miss America
Fort Smith native and Southside High School graduate Alyse Eady, the reigning Miss Arkansas, will compete for the Miss America crown tonight in Las Vegas.
Among pageant events this week in Las Vegas, Eady took part in the Show Me Your Shoes parade Friday at the Paris Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Norm Clarke.
After the parade, Eady was barefood, giving her feet a rest, Clarke wrote. She was holding black stilettos and a high-heel shoe fashioned out of a glitzy Razorback hoghead.
"My feet are killing me," she said.
All contestants were asked to bring a shoe that was representative of their home state, Clarke wrote.
What was the week's highlight? "Pizza!" Eady said. "They fed us pizza for lunch today."
Robin Leach emceed Friday’s parade.
Eady, 22, is the daughter of Lewis and Lady Eady of Fort Smith and a 2006 Southside graduate. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and speech communication from Ouachita Baptist University and plans to obtain a master’s degree in business administration. Her platform issue is "Developing leaders through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America."
Miss America is celebrating its 90th year. Tonight’s finals will be broadcast on ABC starting at 8 p.m.
