Rafael Nadal Defeats Marcos Daniel at 2011 Australian Open
Nadal, the world number 1, faced Marcos Daniel from Brazil in the opening round of the Australian Open.
Rafael Nadal opened his 2011 Melbourne Park campaign on Tuesday with a very short match. Nadal defeated Marcos Daniel in the first round of the 2011 Australian Open in well less than an hour as Daniel, already down 0-6, 0-5, tapped out with injury in the very early going.Nadal obviously looked sharp as he rattled off 11 straight games but as he was playing against an opponent who was less than 100% not much can be attributed to the victory.
However it is fair to say that Nadal did not have to extend himself and, unlike many of the other second rounders, he will enter his next match as fresh as he was for his first as a 46 minute 'workout' will do nothing to raise the world number 1's fatigue level.
In other action Bernard Tomic, the young Australian, has defeated Jeremy Chardy in straight sets while Eduardo Schank did a number on Leonardo Mayer in just over 90 minutes.
Other top players that will be taking to the courts today include Robin Soderling and Juan Martin Del Potro.
