Talia Balsam Gave George Clooney A Shot At Marriage

Talia Balsam might be the only woman who will ever be able to say she was once married to George Clooney, with the actor dismissing suggestions he should get hitched.

Clooney appeared on Friday's "Piers Morgan Tonight," in a televised interview.

His father, George, was also interviewd on the program but was in the studio.

The British host highlighted the long marriage Clooney senior has enjoyed - to the actor's mother - and asked if he was "yearning for the moment" his son would tie the knot.

In reply Clooney, a former anchorman and game show host, turned to his son and said:

"I want you to think about that. I want you to think about - we've been married - Nina and I've been married 51 years."

To which the younger Clooney replied:

"I hate to blow your whole news story, "but I was married, so I gave it a shot."

Clooney was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.

Since 2009, Clooney has been in a relationship with Elisabetta Canalis.
